This document (113 p.), published by the City of Los Angeles, is intended as a guide for all City staff members to better understand the urban forest and to promote care and maintenance of city trees to increase the sustainability of the urban forest. The bulk of it is the “Tree Care Manual,” which provides information on tree maintenance; protection of trees during construction; tree removal, replacement, and planting; and tree evaluation. Sixteen appendices to the Tree Care Manual cover tree preservation policies, pruning best management practices, safety requirements, and nursery specifications, among others.
